Backend Engineer (Multimedia & AI Integration)

Role Overview: We are seeking a Bengaluru-based / Hyderabad-based Backend Engineer with a powerful combination of multimedia processing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) expertise. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize high-performance server-side systems that orchestrate heavy media workflows integrated with machine learning models (such as computer vision, audio analytics, and generative AI). This role features up to 50% travel to customer sites to deploy systems, integrate custom AI pipelines, and optimize backend applications directly within client environments.

Key Responsibilities

• On-Site Customer Integration: Travel up to 50% of the time to client locations to handle complex backend deployments, troubleshoot real-time AI inference lags, and integrate media pipelines directly with customer systems.
• Core Backend Architecture: Design and develop scalable, high-throughput RESTful/gRPC APIs and microservices using Python, Go, or Java to power media-heavy applications.
• AI & ML Pipeline Integration: Integrate and optimize AI/ML models (Object Detection, NLP, Transcriptions, GenAI) into the backend orchestration layer, ensuring low-latency model inference at scale.
• Multimedia Engineering: Build and manage data ingestion and processing systems capable of handling large-scale image, audio, and video workloads using tools like FFmpeg.
• Data & Vector Management: Structure and maintain traditional relational/NoSQL databases alongside Vector Databases (such as PGVector, Pinecone, or Milvus) for AI-driven semantic search and retrieval (RAG).
• Performance Optimization: Maximize GPU/CPU hardware utilization during live media inference to minimize processing latency, manage memory leaks, and lower compute overhead. Required Technical Skills
• Backend Development: Deep expertise in Python, Go, Node.js, or Java with a strong foundation in data structures, concurrency, and distributed system design.
• AI/ML Engineering: Hands-on experience integrating models via frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face, and working with LLMs or Computer Vision models.
• Multimedia Frameworks: Practical knowledge of media codecs, transcoding pipelines, and multimedia processing libraries (e.g., FFmpeg, OpenCV, GStreamer).
• Databases & Vector Infra: Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis, paired with familiarity with Vector Search engines.
• Data Pipelines & Cloud: Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and deploying cloud-native services (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Qualifications

• Location & Mobility: Based in Bengaluru or Hyderabad with a willingness and flexibility to travel up to 50% to customer sites.
• Experience: 3 to 6+ years of total experience in backend software engineering, with at least 1-2 years spent working on AI/ML integration or heavy multimedia processing products.
• Client Facing Skills: Strong engineering communication skills to navigate architectural discussions with customer development teams during on-site phases.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
