We're a small, remote team that ships every week. No layers of management. No long release cycles. Just building a product merchants rely on every day.

### About the role

Today, every major engineering decision flows through our founder. We're hiring a **Backend Developer** to change that.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building production systems, making technical decisions, and raising the engineering bar. You'll own critical backend services, review code, improve architecture, document systems, and help the team move faster.

You'll work directly with the founder and have real ownership over how the product is built.

### What you'll do

• Build and own the backend powering scheduling, rates, notifications, and Shopify integrations.
• Design scalable, maintainable backend architecture.
• Review pull requests and improve engineering quality across the team.
• Create documentation that scales knowledge and reduces dependency on individuals.
• Help unblock engineers and remove technical bottlenecks.
• Work directly with the founder to plan, build, and ship new features.

What we are looking for

• 5 - 7 years of experience building production backend systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience building or maintaining Shopify apps.
• A track record of reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and improving engineering standards.
• Someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and follows through.
