AI Engineer - Data Science and Generative AI

Role Overview

As an AI Engineer at Baker Hughes, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of production-grade AI applications, with a strong focus on Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). You will collaborate closely with experienced AI engineers, data engineers, and specialist product teams to prototype, test, and scale AI-driven capabilities that deliver measurable business value. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and applied AI, making it ideal for engineers who are passionate about building reliable, responsible, and high-quality AI systems rather than standalone models.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing applications using LLMs and GenAI Tools
• Collaborate with the API Program to ensure quality
• Create, fine-tune, and adapt pre-trained models
• Monitor outputs for quality, bias, security, and continued relevance
• Propose and document experiments, prompts, and system designs

Qualifications Required

• Hold a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, preferably with a focus on Data and AI
• Be proficient in Python and SQL, with experience working in modern data and analytics environments
• Have a solid understanding of machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) concepts
• Demonstrate hands-on interest or experience with Generative AI and LLM-based models
• Have working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Be comfortable collaborating across disciplines, including engineering, product, and architecture teams
• Show curiosity, structured problem-solving skills, and a willingness to continuously learn in a fast-moving field
