AI Backend Developer

As an AI Backend Developer, you will help design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power AI-driven platforms, intelligent applications, and enterprise software. You will leverage your expertise in backend development, APIs, databases, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence to build secure, high-performance services that integrate seamlessly with modern AI models and machine learning workflows.

Your responsibilities may include developing backend APIs, integrating Large Language Models (LLMs), building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, designing scalable databases, optimizing application performance, implementing AI workflows, deploying backend services, and collaborating with frontend developers, AI engineers, and product teams to deliver reliable AI-powered solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for AI-powered applications.
• Build secure and high-performance RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI services into backend applications.
• Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems using vector databases.
• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database architectures.
• Build authentication, authorization, and secure API access mechanisms.
• Develop AI-powered backend workflows for automation and intelligent processing.
• Optimize backend performance, scalability, and reliability for production environments.
• Integrate third-party APIs, cloud services, and enterprise systems.
• Monitor, debug, and troubleshoot backend services and production issues.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, AI engineers, DevOps engineers, and product teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Follow backend engineering best practices, maintain documentation, and continuously learn emerging AI and backend technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of backend software development principles.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Go, or similar backend programming languages.
• Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Generative AI concepts.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, databases, authentication, and server-side architecture.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new backend frameworks and AI technologies.
• Prior internship, academic projects, or backend development experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Node.js, Express.js, NestJS, FastAPI, Flask, Django, Spring Boot, or similar backend frameworks.
• Experience integrating OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or other LLM APIs.
• Knowledge of Prompt Engineering, AI Agents, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate, ChromaDB, or Qdrant.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Understanding of distributed systems, caching, message queues, and scalable backend architecture.
• Basic knowledge of MLOps concepts and AI model deployment.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to building secure and reliable backend systems.

Compensation

Projects are compensated based on complexity and duration, with earnings ranging from ₹150/hour to ₹800/hour.
