Job Description & Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant & Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. In this dual-scope role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and producing accurate financial reports that support strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and a solid command of accounting standards and financial reporting practices.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial entries.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in a timely manner.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Manage petty cash, bank reconciliations, and cash flow monitoring.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions and supporting records.

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Analyze financial data and provide variance reports comparing actuals against budgets and forecasts.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial projections.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and provide required schedules and documentation during audit cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations; assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns (GST, TDS, income tax as applicable).
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and manage depreciation schedules.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, local regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes.
  • Liaise with banks, vendors, and other financial institutions as required.

Qualifications & RequirementsEducation

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field (required).
  • Professional certification such as CA, CPA, CMA, or ACCA (preferred or in progress).

Experience

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or financial accounting roles.
  • Proven experience in financial statement preparation and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience working with external auditors and managing audit-related documentation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of IFRS / GAAP and local statutory requirements.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modelling).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
