Network Security Engineer | Remote | 3+ yrs

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Security Engineer to join our cybersecurity team. Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage network security infrastructure to protect against unauthorized access, attacks, and vulnerabilities.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans on network devices and systems.
• Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and investigate security incidents.
• Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security appliances.
• Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure the integration of security measures into the network architecture.
• Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.
• Provide guidance and support to junior members of the network security team.
• Participate in incident response and forensic analysis activities when necessary.
• Conduct security awareness training for employees and other relevant stakeholders.

• Proven experience as a Network Security Engineer or in a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of network security concepts, protocols, and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with firewall configuration and management (Cisco, Palo Alto, etc.).
• Familiarity with intrusion detection/prevention systems and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
• Proficiency in implementing and managing virtual private networks (VPNs).
• Strong understanding of network protocols, routing, and switching.
• Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and techniques.
• Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and network automation.
• Knowledge of scripting languages for automation (Python, PowerShell).
• Experience with network access control (NAC) solutions.
• Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
• Participation in relevant cybersecurity communities or forums.
