The IT and System Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and supporting the IT infrastructure, systems, and software applications within the organization.
This role involves troubleshooting technical issues, providing end-user support, and ensuring the smooth operation of all IT systems.
The candidate will work closely with other IT professionals to implement and manage technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
Provide first-line technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to operating systems, applications, and network connectivity.
Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, servers, and other IT equipment.
System Maintenance:
Monitor system performance and ensure the reliability and security of IT systems.
Perform regular system updates, backups, and patch management to maintain system integrity.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in line with company policies.
Job Responsibilities
Network Management:
Support the configuration and maintenance of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and VPNs.
Troubleshoot network issues and optimize network performance to minimize downtime.
Assist in managing network security, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
Software Management:
Install, update, and manage software applications, ensuring compatibility and security.
Provide training and support to users on new software and systems.
Maintain an inventory of software licenses and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
IT Infrastructure Management:
Assist in the design, implementation, and management of IT infrastructure projects.
Support the deployment of new hardware, software, and technology solutions.
Ensure proper documentation of IT processes, systems configurations, and procedures.
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
Respond to IT support requests and manage the IT helpdesk ticketing system.
Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or external vendors as needed.
Document and track the resolution of issues and provide regular updates to users.
Security and Compliance:
Implement and maintain IT security protocols to protect company data and systems.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on the latest IT trends and technologies.
Recommend and implement improvements to IT processes and systems to enhance efficiency.
Participate in IT projects and contribute to the development of IT strategies.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role.
Skills:
Strong understanding of IT systems, networks, and hardware/software troubleshooting.
Experience with operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
Proficiency in using and managing IT tools such as ticketing systems, remote support tools, and network monitoring software.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or similar.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
